Notes from Breaking Free

Dominator vs. partnership model

It becomes clear that the hierarchical structures at every level of our culture must change if we are to break free of the co-dependency trap.  Such changes will cause a radical shift in the way we see ourselves and view our world.

The challenge for all of us is to individually complete the essential developmental processes that will support our evolution and help us create more functional organizations, cultures, and nation-states. We are generally not generally aware that our culture’s parenting practices make it difficult for children to complete the bonding and separation processes of the co-dependent and counter-dependent stages of development.  Unfortunately, the inability to complete these stages obstructs the awakening of interdependent consciousness.

When people realize it’s trauma that causes them to overreact to certain people or situations, they’re able to learn new, more effective responses.  Through increased awareness of the source of their trauma, and with help of increased communications skills and trauma elimination tools, people can clear the trauma and move forward in their development.

Co-dependency and counter-dependency are part of a larger developmental struggle between oneness and separateness.  Understanding this process is essential for seeing how the inability to become separate contributes to co-dependency issues.
